Sweaty palms are caused by a condition called hyperhidrosis. Hyperhidrosis causes the sweat glands to produce more sweat than the body wishes. The seriousness of the condition can range from a conspicuous sense of moisture to an honest to goodness dripping of sweat. The reason behind hyperhidrosis is not known, but it is thought to be due to a genetic trait. There are many suggested remedies for sweaty palms including diet changes, topical treatments, and intrusive surgery.

The simplest way to avoid sweaty palms is to drink fluids and avoid specific foodstuffs. When you drink the correct amount of liquids, your body temperature will lower internally. Alternatively, when you don’t drink enough liquids your body temperature rises, which causes palms sweating. So be sure to give your body the amount of fluids it needs. Also, avoid eating foods that contain iodine, such as broccoli, white onion, asparagus, liver, beef and turkey.

If you want to try a more preventive method, try these simple topical treatments. Use an alcohol-based hand wipe before any type of social interaction. Alcohol temporarily shrinks the pores, which can help you avoid unrestrained sweating during physical activities. You may also try rubbing an antiperspirant with aluminium chlorohydrate on your palms. Deodorant and baby powder are ineffective for this purpose.

If your condition is serious, you might need to consider more aggressive remedies. BOTOX can be injected into palms as a non permanent solution to excessive sweating. BOTOX hinders sweating by stopping the releasing of acetylcholine, which stimulates sweat extrusion. the effects of BOTOX are only brief and must be used constantly to keep it’s benefits. For a permanent solution, surgery might be the best option. The preferred surgery for hyperhidrosis is Endoscopic Thoracic Sympathectomy or ETS.

In this operation, the compassionate nerve, which is accountable for perspiration, is cut or clipped. Cutting the compassionate nerve causes a reduction or complete stop of the body’s ability to sweat in the specified areas.

These suggestions are just a few cures for sweaty palms. Do some research to find the prevention method that’d be the best for you.

How can you stop excessive underarm sweating without drugs or antiperspirants (which are bad for you)? This happens even it's cold — it has nothing to do with sweating from being too hot.

Baking soda. Works like deo.

Is excessive sweating a medical problem?

I know that sweating helps remove toxins from the body. But some people do sweat more than others.

I know 'excessive' can be a subjective term, but there are people who sweat excessively, right? I am talking about those who are not on any high-potency medication, which can result in excessive sweating.

Other than inconvenience, is it a medical problem if a person sweats excessively? And if its a medical problem, is there a remedy? That is, what are the medical tests recommended for such a person?

if its underarm sweating, here is some info on things to try to control it… or mask it… actually some of the info can be used for hands and feet as well.

Here is some info (its from an answer I gave to a similar question a while back)

excessive sweating might be a condition of hyperhidrosis, which is quite common.

there is a product called Certain-dry and Dry Sol which I think you apply only at night maybe for only a few days or maybe a week and its supposed to last for a short while before you apply again… not sure exactly if I am right on how it works.

there is also a product called Sweat Block that you apply once a week.

you might be able to use these on other areas of the body like if you have excessive sweating on the hands but I am not sure.

if your sweating is not controllable by these then there is something called "Drionic" which they have underarm versions or hand/feet versions. You have to do I think 2 half hour sessions and depending on if you do it on low or high you have to do it for 7-8 hours total or double that on low. This is supposed to stop sweating for up to 6 weeks at a time. It stings when you use it but once you are used to it I guess its not that bad by what my uncle told me (he uses it with great success). Your underams will be red when first using it until you get used to it. But once you get through the treatments it will go back normal after some days. My uncle said this is the best thing he has ever tried as it stops his excessive sweating (he even sweat a lot during winter when it was snowing)

also, if you don't want to go this route and your excessive sweating is on your underarms, there are underarm guards you can place on your clothing that absorb the sweat and prevent those armpit wet circles some people get.

there is
http://www.sweatex.com/

it says its not see-thru but if you are wearing a t-shirt you can see "something" there… they may not know its the underarm pads… but you can always wear a very thin undershirt with the sweat pad attached then your regular t-shirt or any other top over that.

and these:

In gym i always seem to sweat and it gets to me and ppl start to talk about me. i just want to know how to stop sweating so much. can u help me please/

It is normal to sweat when you excersie. you can’t stop it

Stop Sweating Naturally

Approximately 1percent of the world’s population endures over sweating, also called hyperhidrosis. This problem usually appears in the armpits and palms and can lead to extreme uneasiness to the sufferer, especially if his/her occupation involves meeting and greeting people.

Sweating is formed by the sweat glands and is immensely valuable since this way we can remove harmful toxins. However, in several people these glands become greatly stimulated, which results in hyperhidrosis.

To treat this condition several people apply antiperspirants, but they can only show effect if the condition is mild.

A further fairly common treatment is to utilize Botox injections, but the disadvantage is that they can cost up to $1400 and they are reasonably painful.

If you have attempted to resolve this condition and nothing has worked, don’t be concerned. There is a entirely natural treatment you can use to stop sweating excessively permanently. Here below are some guidelines that will get you on the right track:

Take care of what you eat: there are some foods that raise your quantity of sweat and they also make your body smell badly. Try to steer clear of spicy foodstuffs, onions, garlic, curries and red meat. Also stay away from caffeine in view of the fact that it causes your heart’s rate to rise and makes the scenario worse. A further thing you should absolutely reduce is drinking alcohol. On the other hand, there are many food items that can assist you in reducing sweat such as fruits, vegetables and alfalfa. Furthermore, you can attempt to use herbs such as lemon balm, St. Johns and catnip.

Lose weight: it looks as if many of sufferers are overweight. By shedding some it will be easier for you to move and it will create a smaller amount of warmth.

Find out some recreation techniques: many times perspiring palms and armpits are caused by stress, increased levels of anxiety can cause this condition. If you trust that this is the scenario with you, then trying recreation techniques such as meditation and yoga can be massively helpful.

What to do to help stop sweating in dress?

I am a maid of honor at a wedding this weekend and it is going to be outside in 90+ heat. What can I do to help stop sweating? My dress sticks to my skin when I sweat and I do not want to have sweat marks in the pictures. Should I try baby powder? It is not my armpits I am worried about!

put talc or baby powder on your skin. that will absorb the moisture.

When I wear flats for school my feet sweat, well its actually my friends. What should she do….. sock her feet in tea bags??
Thanks

Feet that are deprived of cooling air circulation will sweat no matter what.

Either wear cotton half socks inside the flats or wear flats that are made of breathable materials.

It helps to place absorbent insoles inside the shoes.

Foot powder can also be helpful.

Here is the Tea cure: Boil five tea bags in a quart of water for five minutes. When the solution cools, soak your hands or feet for twenty to thirty minutes nightly.

Tea contains tannic acid, which is also found in commercial products such as Ivy Dry, Zilactol, and Zilactin. The astringent properties of tannic acid are thought to be partly responsible for its antiperspirant action.

To keep from slipping off of high heeled sandals spray a little super hold hairspray inside (instep) of the sandals, slides or shoes.
